Why Keep Bringing the Past Back?

Now with the release of the new Mustang Bullitt I just have to say, aren’t we done with remaking the same old thing?

The new NSX is nowhere close to the old one; the GTR is a big fat automatic that goes fast but handles like a donk. I’m just waiting for Dodge to come out with a Dukes of Hazzard Edition or a Superbird again. Why doesn’t Pontiac make another Bandit Edition? Oh wait, there is no Pontiac and they did it with a Camaro.

Wejust seem to be in this wicked cycle where no one can come up with something new in this industry. As a 1991 Acura NSX owner, I can tell you it’s a hard car to remake. Starting at the Nissan Skyline R32 the cars just got bigger and heavier as time went on. Although, the GTR is kinda the next step for Nissan.

It’s not the cars that haven’t ever disappeared, like the Mustang or the Camaro, but more the fact that we have to remake something on a fairly regular basis to keep peoples’ interest. I see the same things in the film industry where they’ll make Scooby-Doo 7 before they’ll try something new.

It’s sad when there’s so much talk about this Kia Stinger and how it’s different. Kia? Really? That’s who’s going to set the trends?

What car would you like to see remade?
